“Despite the multitude of positive outcomes associated with evidence-based practice (EBP) and the strong desire of healthcare providers to be the recipients of evidence-based care, an alarming number of healthcare systems and clinicians do not consistently implement EBP or follow evidence-based clinical practice guidelines” (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2019, p. 12). Throughout chapter 1 the various benefits of evidence-based practice are discussed. Additionally, barriers and facilitators of EBP are explored. Overcoming barriers to EBP is a crucial step in successfully changing system cultures to incorporate this integral aspect of clinical care. This discussion board assignment enables students to demonstrate their knowledge of EBP barriers and facilitators and how the comments/suggestions of peers can be enhanced.
